A Prayer

Father-God, our hearts are grieved by the last days and months.

The streets seem filled with hatred, anger, and strife.

People are confined in their homes and missing priceless human interaction.

People are bound up with their TVs and internet sources only peeking out the window and assuming everyone feels the same fear and hatred.

People are tired.

People are overwhelmed.

People are suffering in isolation.

. . . .

Father-God thank you for the recent celebration of the birth of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Our hearts reminded of the vulnerability of a baby. Our hearts humbled by the sacrifice of Jesus coming to this earth. Our hearts thankful for the love we are offered because of his life.

Father-God we thank you that you have invited us into a love relationship with you. A love relationship already existing within the Trinity. A love relationship so beautiful you wanted to invite us into it to experience it too.

We are thankful your law was fulfilled by the life and death of your son. The veil torn and the last sacrifice made. Father-God please guide us to exude this same love to others.

Father-God we are thankful you have shown us what it looks like to, “love our neighbor as our self,” please help us emanate this same love to others.

Help us to be poor in spirit. (Matt 5:3)

Help us to mourn. (Matt 5:4)

Help us to be meek. (Matt 5:5)

Help us to hunger and thirst for righteousness. (Matt 5:6)

Help us to live mercifully. (Matt 5:7)

Help us to live with a pure heart. (Matt 5:8)

Help us to live as peacemakers. (Matt 5:9)

Help us to live and endure persecution for the sake of righteousness. (Matt 5:10)

Helps us to live with the faith of the sick women in Mark 5:27.

Helps us to stand quietly as you did before the Sanhedrin in Matthew 26:62-63

Help us to not lose our soul in our desire to be right. Mark 9:36

Help us to love abundantly, “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.”

Matt 12:34

Father-God we are thankful we know Jesus as our Great King and our Sacrificial Lamb.

We are thankful we can trust in what you are bringing:

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.”

Revelation 7:9

And we are thankful we can trust in how you have asked us to live until you bring it:

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself

and take up his cross and follow me."

Matt 17:24

“The last will be first and the first will be last.”

Matt 20:16

Father-God we are so thankful your son paid the ultimate price so that we can be invited into a beautiful love relationship with you.

Father-God as our hearts grieve over the destruction caused by sin, open our eyes to see others and love them as you have loved us. Please help us to love others with the love we have received from you.

We thank you Father-God for walking each and every day with us. Draw us into your arms as a parent does a child and help our hearts beat with yours.

We love you.
